Outdoor Education
There is a direct connection between outdoor activity and brain development. This reality guides many components of our program. Every Friday, our students participate in "Farm Fridays." Farm Fridays are an experiential learning day that broadens what our students are exposed to in an academic week. Every Friday has four key elements:
- Community Connection: Fridays begin with shout outs, where students and staff recognize positive moments from the week
- Outdoor Learning: Students spend the morning in rotating Outdoor Education Program (OEP) sessions such as gardening, woodworking, fishing, botany, and orienteering
- Student Choice & Fun: Afternoons are dedicated to choice time, focused on connection, teamwork, and creativity through activities like basketball, chess, sketching, and student-led clubs
- Giving Back: All students participate in at least two community service trips per semester. Through service, students gain perspective, develop compassion, and experience the joy of giving back. Some of our community partners include Books for Africa, SERV, Camellia Place, Cox Arboretum, and Mostly Mutts
