CORE Mission

CORE Community School serves students in grades 6-12 that have some factor(s) interfering with their success.  We help our students to “know their own strength” by:
  • Nurturing and developing our students’ academic, social, emotional, physical and spiritual wellness
  • Providing a safe, supportive learning environment
  • Developing perspective and compassion in our students through opportunities to genuinely connect with and give back to the community
  • Helping students better understand and manage their own learning profile
  • Guiding students to discover their identity, passions and purpose
  • Empowering parents to be effective, accountable learning partners in their child’s life

CORE Beliefs

  • All kids can learn, despite diagnoses, labels or previous negative learning experiences
  • Kids learn best when they know and understand their own learning
  • Kids learn best when they are comfortable, but challenged
  • Kids learn best when they feel a sense of meaningful connection at school
  • Understanding can and should be shown in a variety of different ways
  • The community is an extension of the classroom
  • School should be a genuinely diverse environment that welcomes families of all socio-economic backgrounds
  • Kids need consistent opportunities for self-reflection and expression
  • Physical Education should be a part of every school day
  • Identity development is just as important as academic
  • Teachers should be lifelong learners that value real connection with students
  • Parents are ideal learning partners who need the knowledge and support to fulfill this role
